The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026 notice. Through this recruitment examination, SSC will select eligible candidates for the posts of Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police, Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs and Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF.

SSC CPO Recruitment 2026

As per the tentative vacancy details given in the official examination notice, a total of 1,871 vacancies are available. Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official SSC website within the prescribed dates.

The online application process will start on 10 September 2026 and the last date to submit the application form is 30 September 2026 up to 11:00 PM. The Computer-Based Examination date will be announced later by the Commission.

Posts and Pay Scale

The SSC CPO 2026 recruitment covers three broad categories of posts.

1. Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs

The post carries Pay Level-6 with a pay scale of ₹35,400–₹1,12,400 and is classified as Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted and Non-Ministerial. Candidates selected for SI posts in CAPFs are liable to serve anywhere in India.

2. Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police

The post is available for both Male and Female candidates and carries Pay Level-6, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400. It is classified as Group ‘C’ by Delhi Police.

3. Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF

The SI (Fire)-Male post in CISF carries Pay Level-6 with a pay scale of ₹35,400–₹1,12,400 and is classified as Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted and Non-Ministerial.

Who Can Apply for SSC CPO 2026?

Candidates should carefully check the nationality, age, educational qualification and post-specific requirements before submitting the application.

Nationality

A candidate must be:

  • A citizen of India; or
  • A subject of Nepal; or
  • A subject of Bhutan.

Candidates from Nepal or Bhutan must have the required certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India where applicable.

SSC CPO Age Limit 2026

The crucial date for determining age is 1 August 2026.

For all posts except SI (Fire) in CISF, the age limit is 20 to 25 years. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 August 2001 and not later than 1 August 2006.

For SI (Fire) in CISF, the age limit is 18 to 30 years. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 August 1996 and not later than 1 August 2008.

Age Relaxation

The upper-age relaxation mentioned in the notice includes:

There are separate provisions for certain women candidates and departmental candidates of Delhi Police. Departmental candidates with at least three years of regular and continuous service can receive the prescribed relaxation subject to the conditions in the notice.

Educational Qualification

SI in Delhi Police and SI (GD) in CAPFs

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.

Candidates who are appearing in their Bachelor’s degree examination may also apply, but they must acquire the required qualification on or before the closing date of online applications.

SI (Fire) in CISF

For the post of Sub-Inspector (Fire), candidates must have either:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized university or equivalent; OR
  • Matriculation/equivalent along with a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobiles, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical, Telecommunication Engineering or an equivalent examination from a recognized University, Board or Institution.

The notice also states that a higher qualification such as B.Tech/M.Tech in relevant fields may be allowed as value addition, subject to the basic diploma qualification being available.

Driving Licence Requirement for Delhi Police Male Candidates

Male candidates applying for Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police must possess a valid LMV driving licence for Motorcycle and Car on the date fixed for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests.

A male candidate without a valid LMV driving licence can still be eligible for the post of Sub-Inspector in CAPFs, subject to fulfilling the other requirements.

SSC CPO 2026 Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of several stages:

  1. Paper-I
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST)
  3. Physical Endurance Test (PET)
  4. Paper-II
  5. Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
  6. Document Verification

All these stages are part of the examination process.

Candidates are first shortlisted for PST/PET on the basis of their Paper-I performance. PST/PET is qualifying in nature. Only candidates who qualify the physical tests are allowed to appear in Paper-II. Candidates qualifying in Paper-II are then shortlisted for medical examination.

The final selection and allocation of Post/Force will be based on performance in Paper-II, including applicable NCC bonus marks, and the preferences submitted by the candidate.

SSC CPO Exam Pattern 2026

Paper-I

Paper-I contains four sections with 25 questions each.

Paper-II has a total duration of 1 hour, with a sectional timer of 20 minutes for each part.

Both papers contain objective multiple-choice questions. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer in Paper-I and 0.50 marks for every wrong answer in Paper-II.

SSC CPO 2026 NCC Bonus Marks

Candidates holding valid NCC certificates as on the closing date of applications can receive bonus marks in both Paper-I and Paper-II.

SSC CPO Physical Standard Test 2026

Physical standards differ according to the post and category.

For SI in Delhi Police, the general height requirement is 170 cm for male candidates and 157 cm for female candidates. Certain relaxations are available for candidates belonging to hill areas, North-Eastern States, Sikkim and specified categories. For example, male candidates belonging to North-Eastern States have a height standard of 165 cm, while female candidates from the specified hill/North-Eastern categories have a height standard of 155 cm.

SI in CAPFs, the general height requirement is also 170 cm for male candidates and 157 cm for female candidates, with prescribed relaxations for specified categories.

For SI (Fire) in CISF, the general male height requirement is 170 cm, with chest measurement of 81 cm unexpanded and 86 cm expanded. Specified categories have relaxation in height and chest measurements.

SSC CPO PET 2026

The Physical Endurance Test is qualifying in nature.

For Male Candidates

  • 100 metre race – 16 seconds
  • 1.6 km race – 6.5 minutes
  • Long Jump – 3.65 metres in 3 chances
  • High Jump – 1.2 metres in 3 chances
  • Shot Put (16 lbs) – 4.5 metres in 3 chances

For Female Candidates

  • 100 metre race – 18 seconds
  • 800 metre race – 4 minutes
  • Long Jump – 2.7 metres in 3 chances
  • High Jump – 0.9 metre in 3 chances

There is no minimum chest measurement requirement for female candidates.

PST/PET does not carry marks and is used on a qualifying/elimination basis. Ex-Servicemen are not required to undergo PET, although they must undergo PST and satisfy the prescribed written, physical and medical requirements.

SSC CPO Medical Examination

Candidates qualifying in Paper-II are required to undergo Detailed Medical Examination. Candidates found unfit during DME may undergo Review Medical Examination as prescribed in the notice.

The medical requirements include the prescribed eyesight standards. The minimum near vision is N6 in the better eye and N9 in the worse eye, while the minimum distant vision is 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye, without correction through glasses or surgery.

Candidates must also not have conditions such as knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins or squint, and they should possess high colour vision.

SSC CPO Application Fee 2026

The application fee is ₹100.

Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST and eligible Ex-Servicemen categories are exempted from payment of the application fee.

The fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or RuPay Debit Card. The last date for online fee payment is 1 October 2026 up to 11:00 PM.

SSC CPO Application Correction 2026

SSC will provide a correction window from 8 October 2026 to 10 October 2026 up to 11:00 PM. A candidate can correct and resubmit the application two times during the correction window.

The correction charge is:

  • ₹200 for the first correction and resubmission
  • ₹500 for the second correction and resubmission

These correction charges are applicable to all candidates irrespective of gender or category.

How to Apply for SSC CPO Recruitment 2026?

Eligible candidates can follow these steps to submit their application:

  1. Visit the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in.
  2. Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website.
  3. Log in using the Registration Number and Password.
  4. Go to the Latest Notifications section.
  5. Select “Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination 2026.”
  6. Enter the required educational and other details.
  7. Complete the required post/force preferences.
  8. Capture the required real-time photograph as instructed.
  9. Upload the scanned signature in the prescribed format, where applicable.
  10. Preview the application carefully.
  11. Submit the application form.
  12. Pay the application fee, if applicable.
  13. Save/print the submitted application for future reference.

The SSC notice specifically states that an OTR created on the old ssc.nic.in website will not work on the new website. Candidates must complete OTR on ssc.gov.in. The application can also be submitted through the mySSC mobile application.

Photograph and Signature Requirements

  • The application system is designed to capture a real-time photograph while filling out the application. Candidates should use good lighting and a plain background, keep the camera at eye level and face the camera directly.
  • Candidates should not wear a cap, mask or spectacles while capturing the photograph.
  • Where a scanned signature is required, it should be in JPEG/JPG format, with a file size of 10 to 20 KB and dimensions of approximately 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm.
  • Candidates who use Aadhaar-Based Authentication receive the relaxations specified by SSC regarding photograph/signature standards and examination-centre identity requirements.

SSC CPO Examination Centres

  • SSC has provided examination centres under its nine Regional Offices. The North Eastern Region (NER) covers Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
  • For Assam and the North-Eastern region, centres listed in the notice include Itanagar, Dibrugarh, Guwahati (Dispur), Jorhat, Silchar, Imphal, Churachandpur, Shillong, Aizawl, Dimapur, Kohima and Agartala.
  • Candidates can give preference for three examination centres within the same region, in order of priority. The Commission may change, cancel or divert examination centres if required.

SSC CPO Recruitment 2026 – Final Selection

Candidates who meet the minimum qualifying requirements in the written examination are shortlisted for subsequent stages.The minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II, without considering NCC bonus marks, are:

  • UR: 30%
  • OBC/EWS: 25%
  • Other categories: 20%

However, SSC may fix higher cut-off marks depending on the number of vacancies, candidates and other relevant factors.

After Paper-I, eligible candidates proceed to PST/PET. Those who qualify the physical stage appear for Paper-II. Candidates qualifying in Paper-II are shortlisted for medical examination. Candidates who qualify the medical and document verification stages are considered for final selection.

The final post/force allocation is based on Paper-II performance and the preferences submitted by candidates. Once a candidate is allotted the first available preference according to merit, the candidate will not be considered for another option.
