Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details
A total of 354 Group C posts are distributed across technical trades. Key trade allocations include:
- Warrant Officer (Cipher): 124 Posts
- Rifleman (Electrical Fitter Signal): 32 Posts
- Rifleman (Armourer): 29 Posts

Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
1. Age Limit (Crucial Date: July 1, 2026)
- Warrant Officer (Cipher): 18 to 25 years.
- Most Rifleman / Tradesmen Posts: 18 to 23 years.
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST applicants receive 5 years, OBC applicants receive 3 years, and Ex-Servicemen receive relaxation as per extant Government of India rules.
2. Educational & Technical Qualifications
- Warrant Officer (Cipher): 10+2 (Higher Secondary) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized board, along with a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science / IT.
- Other Rifleman Trades (Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, Welder, etc.): Class 10 (Matriculation) pass certificate from a recognized board along with an ITI Certificate or a 2-year Diploma in the relevant trade.

Height Standards
- General Candidates: Male: 170 cm | Female: 157 cm
- North-Eastern States (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, etc.): Male: 165 cm | Female: 155 cm
- All Scheduled Tribe (ST) Candidates: Male: 162.5 cm | Female: 150 cm
Chest Standards (Male Candidates Only)
- General: 80 cm (unexpanded) / 85 cm (expanded)
- North-Eastern States: 78 cm (unexpanded) / 83 cm (expanded)
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Rally Venues: Conducted via RFID timing systems at centers including Jorhat and Diphu in Assam.
- Standard Race Norms: 5 km run to be completed within 24 minutes. (For candidates belonging to the Ladakh region: 1.6 km run in 7 minutes).
Selection Process
The selection roadmap consists of the following consecutive stages:
- Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Written Examination: 100-mark Computer-Based Test (CBT).
- Trade / Skill Test: Practical assessment for the respective trade (qualifying nature).
- Medical Examination: Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME).
- Document Verification & Merit Listing: Final allocation based on written scores and verified credentials.
